Tran-X Plate LSDs

Tran-X plate type LSD units are the unsung hero of many Motorsport victories; with each unit incorporating the massive experience Tran-X has of designing and manufacturing high performance driveline components. Whether it be front or rear wheel drive our LSD units can give you a real performance boost and move you onto that next level.

Once you have chosen your required LSD we have a market leading range of ramp angles to choose from to get the right set up for you. The process can be further refined by choosing the amount of static preload the LSD produces which guarantees the LSD has the right amount of slip and that when the LSD does lock the car still remains manageable.

The operation of a Tran-X LSD is explained below. Equipping you with as much information as possible allows you to understand the product you are purchasing as well as being able to simplify your set up choice by explaining the different choices available.

To bolster this a set up guide showing ramp angles and what this equates to is available on each Lsd page. This provides you with as much information possible to choose your new Tran-X LSD. Should you need any further assistance our sales team is on hand to assist you through the set ups and make sure you get the correct product for your needs.

Our LSD range is constantly growing so keep checking the website for updates to our range.

LSD Operation

The Operation of a Tran-X LSD is based around a plate type Diff. with preload and ramp angle settings dictating how the LSD operates.

The ramp angle dictates when and how the LSD will take effect so under hard acceleration the force exerted by the cross pins/planet gears on the wedge shaped ramp blocks, forces the blocks outwards exerting pressure on the plates. Which then locks the LSD and equally distributes power through each drive shaft giving you the grip you need. So the shallower the ramp angles the easier the block can be forced outwards and the more aggressive it is.

The preload setting on a Tran-X LSD dictates the contact friction on the plate so the higher the preload the more constant friction between the plates. Therefore when you accelerate and the ramp forces itself outwards the plate’s lock together quicker. More preload means a more aggressive Diff. This allows us to tailor each unit to your needs.

Most of our LSD’s come with a duel ramp block fitted which means there are two different ramp angles on one reaction ring. Add to this the two preload settings means you have four different set up supplied with each unit!!! Should your circumstances change his can be further broadened by purchasing another duel ramp angle giving you and even bigger tuning spectrum, making sure your getting the best from your LSD
